Bisphosphonates
Bisphosphonates are used to treat and prevent osteoporosis.
Bisphosphonates inhibit the breakdown of bone by osteoclasts by encouraging osteoclast apoptosis. The inhibition of osteoclasts shifts the balance of bone creation and breakdown to promote formation of new bone.
